Description: Outstanding vintage English furnishing cotton in a marvelous very unique exotic floral toile variation. Old world scenic banners that resemble a ship and unusual floral "pods" accented with picotage dotting. I believe the flora/pods may be that of a Madagascar palm or similar? An exotic island type floral. Makes me think of a continental European "exploration" inspired design. Very possibly a latter variation of a much earlier English design, more than likely based on an earlier English chintz due to the picotage dotting and overall feel of the piece, coloring etc...generally seen in earlier chintz. This is a mid density cotton (not a chintz) in a larger scale. The banners are aprox. 8" wide. Beautifully printed, very good quality. Gorgeous hues of magenta red, rich (grayish) blues & green, eggplant, golden yellow & ochre. The inner banner is a slightly deeper ochre tone in person that did not capture fully in my photos. Just lovely used for interior projects and again, incredibly unique. Circa probably the 1960's-70's time frame. .***Condition is very nice, I believe lightly used/salvaged but in very good order to work with. I noted some fading/mellowing of the colors on the outer edge on some of this (about 2 to 3 inches of the width which can be trimmed away or turned under). Overall well maintained & strong. Measures 54" wide by 1 yard long ~ I can keep up to "2" in one length uncut (so 54" wide by 2 yards long can be sent continuous) Many thanks! I sell antique and vintage fabric.
