Description: Up for auction is a vintage Savinelli Hand Made Freehand estate pipe. The pipe is not stamped Savinelli anywhere. It is simply stamped Hand Made Italy. This is to my knowledge an Autograph second, and all I have seen have the biscione or "Serpent Logo." It makes for a rare and beautiful pipe. It is the only seconds line that rivals the line they come from in terms of value. I've had a few of these over the year, and they always are well received when offered for sale. This pipe is on the larger end of the scale and has no issues other than this in hand description. PLEASE do look at the photos . There is a flaw on the top of the shank that probably put this pipe in the seconds category (photos #'s (9&10). On the left side, there is also another dark line, much like this one that runs horizontal to the vertical grain. Neither has changed during the time it has been in my collection. The bowl and rim are in great shape, the stem tooth mark free, and the stem logo is fairly well defined. You could make the logo more defined with a light layer of gold paint and oil sanding, but I'll leave that decision up to the new owner. It's in very good used condition with some beautiful grain and rusticated shank bottom. Pipe has been reamed, checked over for defects, and I have very lightly cleaned it and checked it defects and obstructions but have not done a complete cleaning so you can do that to your standards.
