The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Johann Füchsl Johann was a Lieutenant in the Air Force and was awarded the War Merit Cross with Swords for actions that contributed to the war effort. He fell during the 'fight against Bolshevism' in Russia on March 7, 1943 at 7AM from an artillery strike at the age of 27. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.
