The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Vigil Schreilechner Vigil was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class and a Wound Badge. He fell on May 29, 1944 in Cassino, southern Italy at the age of 21. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us.
