The vast majority of Germans in World War II were Catholics. Like many funeral services today, a small card (usually baseball card size) were printed with a photo and brief history of the deceased. This custom has existed for several centuries and was very prevalent during the Second World War. This particular card was printed in remembrance of: Peter Aigner Peter was a Medic as well as a World War 1 and World War 2 veteran. He was award the Hindenburg Cross for Combatants in the Great War and the War Merit Cross with Swords for the Second World War. He fell on November 14, 1944 after 5 1/4 Years of service at the age of 47. Please check back often as we will be listing more coins and currency.
