Description: This is a very fine World War II U.S. Navy pilot’s wing by N.S. Meyer, N.Y. that is in excellent condition. It is constructed of Sterling silver with gilt finish and measures 2¾ inches from wing tip to wing tip. The wings exhibit crisp detail to the anchor, central shield, and wing feathers. The reverse is marked, ‘N.S. Meyer’ over ‘New York’ with the shield logo below this. Marked below the shield is, ‘STERLING’. Most of the gilt finish has worn off over time and the wing now appears silver with gilt highlights. The original swing pin and roller locking catch assemblies are in place and remain functional. This is a beautiful looking example that remains in excellent and undamaged condition.7555
